About
Established in 1989
CNR Services International is a precision mechanical engineering design consultancy, founded in 1989 and based in Nottingham, UK. What began as a high-quality design resource for industrial and transport markets has grown into a multi-disciplinary consultancy with an international client base.
As a result, CNR now delivers innovative engineering solutions across aerospace, defence, automotive, energy, and university research sectors. Furthermore, as a BS EN ISO 9001:2015 certified engineering design consultancy, we work closely with world-renowned universities, leading OEMs, and pioneering research programmes. This collaboration keeps us at the forefront of technological development.
Our core expertise spans the full spectrum of mechanical engineering design — from individual components and mechanisms through to complete systems, test rigs, and special-purpose machinery. In addition, we support projects from concept generation through to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing integration.
Over the last decade, CNR has been deeply involved in cutting-edge R&D. This includes supporting product optimisation, light-weighting programmes, and structural analysis for next-generation platforms. Alongside our industrial and academic work, we are proud to contribute to renewable and future energy systems. We apply our engineering design expertise to projects that reduce CO₂ emissions, improve sustainability, and help shape tomorrow’s energy landscape.
Our Engineering Design Team & Capability
CNR is led by Managing Director Chris Reckless, whose 45-year engineering career has taken him from a toolroom apprentice to one of the East Midlands’ most experienced mechanical engineering design professionals. That journey has given Chris an exceptionally rounded understanding of how engineering solutions are conceived, developed and delivered. Consequently, it is this depth of practical knowledge — accumulated across decades and disciplines — that sits at the heart of CNR’s engineering design consultancy.
We operate from a purpose-built engineering facility in Nottingham. On-site, we deliver CAD modelling, detailed technical drawing, component manufacture, assembly, and testing. Therefore, your project doesn’t leave our hands until it’s right.
The wider CNR team brings together specialist engineers proficient in industry-leading CAD tools. These include Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, and AutoCAD. Moreover, our team uses advanced FEA capability to validate and optimise designs ahead of production.

Why Choose CNR

Engineering clients return to CNR because we combine the responsiveness of a specialist consultancy with the depth of a much larger organisation. Every solution we design, validate, and refine stays with our own team throughout — with no minimum project size and no hand-offs to third parties.
Our Cyber Essentials Plus certification and CAGE code registration reflect the trust placed in us by defence and government-aligned clients. In these sectors, data security and supply chain integrity are non-negotiable. Additionally, our ATLAS Laser Alignment System carries direct MOD accreditation, demonstrating the standards we hold ourselves to on every engagement.
